Focus Magazine is a student publication devoted to uniting the volunteer community of Waco, Texas, and Baylor University.
Here’s our spring 2011 issue:

I served as an editor for Focus for my third semester in the spring of 2011. I also served as a designer and photographer for the magazine. I edited design and copy, met with writers, photographers and designers individually and spoke to the four contributing journalism classes throughout the semester. As an editor, I led 30 to 40 undergraduates and graduate students who worked on the magazine as a class project. My co-editor and I formatted each design for publication in Adobe InDesign. We also uploaded all content to the website including creating SoundSlide shows for photo stories and working with HTML and CSS code and WordPress. I also managed the publication’s social media on Twitter and Facebook announcing the distribution of the magazine and promoting its content.
In the fall of 2010, I wrote an article for the magazine’s online publication about a Fulbright scholar from Baylor who studied and taught music in Nepal.

Before serving as editor, I wrote an article on a local ministry that has grown to be a global church planting movement with training schools for missionaries, a large college ministry and a worship conference held in the university’s arena.
