Wrote a guest column for my hometown paper, Clovis News Journal, today about the Waco I know.

“Once again, Waco, Texas is in the national news and associated with violence. Judging from some of the headlines you might have seen, it would seem this is all the world knows of the city.

The Waco I knew as a Baylor student is a very different place, however. It defies the simple categorizations major media organizations rely upon. “Wacko Waco” may make a clickable tweet or a catchy headline, but the real Waco is a much more complex place.”
